I've got a gentleman caller today after school and I'd better make sure I've baked his favorite cake! OK it's not THAT exciting... he's a friend of mine who is a stay at home Dad and he's bringing his kids over for a play after school. And he does love my carrot cake, pictured here with some banana muffins as well (sorry about the bad quality photo... does anyone want to buy me a new digital camera for my birthday?). And sneaky-momma icy poles (popsicles in USA). You notice how kids seem to be attracted to the luridly colored artifical icy poles? Well I make these with apple/carrot/orange/lemon juice and the lurid orange of the carrot juice seems to look just artificial enough for even the most ardent anti-naturalists.
